Hip Hip Hooray!!
Have a good one
Trevor, Susan, Natalie and Cameron
Hi, I live close to a recycling center, so i take all my newpapers, old magazines and plastic bottles there frequently. I use the plastic bags from the grocery store as trash bag liners and for when i clean out the cat litter box (so much better than wasting a full size trash bag). I save boxes and the packing popcorn from packages i receive, so that i can use them later whenever i sell something or am sending out a gift. Those are just a few…

I posted about this giveaway on my blog. Thanks for the contest.
I posted about this on my blog! (I just started it, so I am still in the beginning phase.)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY – great giveaway…..I often save used water bottles (like the ones you buy in a 6 pkg or so) refill, freeze and take to work…..this saves buying new drinks and I have a great water bottle to use that doesn’t spill all over my papers and such
Happy Birthday!
My family tries to limit plastic bags when shopping, using reusables or hand carrying items when possible. I always hated carrying a thousand small bags into the house anyway!
Great contest – thanks for the opportunity!
Happy Birthday!
To re-use I wash and dry bread bags and use them to freeze hamburger in. It works great! What a great give-away!
I’ve recently started using cloth diapers as “wipe cloths” instead of paper towels–especially on my kids’ dirty faces after eating spaghetti and pudding! Cleans up way better!
We collect rainwater,I hang all laundry on the line, and we each have a water bottle. monk5 at charter dot net
Happy Birthday! I am reusing, recycling, repurposing, and reducing by having a “Homemade Christmas”. I am not buying anything new other than a few craft supplies and fabric. I am garage saleing and Freecycling, then sewing, cutting, glueing, ect to make wonderful, thoughtful Christmas presents without all the consumerism! I hope I can pull it off!! Great give away, thanks!
My husband, children and I recycle everyday. We make about 2 trips to the recycle center a week. Plastic bottles, plastic wrappers around gum, any plastic wrappers around items like food containers, lipstick-any plastic no matter how small goes to recycle.
Newspapers, junk mail, cardboard, magazines. We, also, use plastice bags from the grocery stores instead of buying trash bags. I use the Sunday’s comic section paper to wrap my nieces and nephew presents instead of buying wrapping paper.
I would love to win the All You 1 year subscription.
Happy Birthday from one Sept. 4th bithday to another.
Happy Birthday!
I’ve switched to reusable bags, and try and transform leftovers to a completely different dish as often as I can!
Happy Birthday!!!
Hope it’s wonderful!
My favorite way to reduce/recycle is to giveaway extra coupons and read/unread magazines. I also like to use old clothes (tshirts) as cleaning rags and to keep a watering can or bucket in the shower while the water warms up (and reuse on plants)
Thank you for the generous giveaway!
Lindsay
We recycle all those newspapers I buy to get my coupon inserts!
Happy birthday from another September baby! What a great contest, thank you for offering it!
How I reduce: I try to limit my water consumption by simple acts, such as turning off the faucet when it’s not immediately in use – for example, brushing my teeth or removing makeup. It drives me nuts to have it running if I’m not using it!
How I reuse: I bring my own shopping bag to the store, and reuse that instead of using another plastic bag.
How I recycle: Finding other uses for products when it’s possible, instead of tossing it right away. Taking my recycling to our local recycle center, since they don’t offer curbside recycling in my area.
I still consume way more than I’d like to, but it’s a start, anyway!
Happy Birthday! I hope your day is wonderful.
I reuse plastic shopping bags as small trash can liners.
I reuse bread ties to close other packages.
I reuse boxes that mailed packages come in to put Christmas presents in for wrapping.
What I do to reuse…Wash out Ziploc bags….I use them over and over. My friends think I an nuts but hey..I do not have to buy these very often. semtaylor(at)yahoo.com
One way I do alot of reusing is using the plastic grocery bags for anything and everything around the house, especially those stinky baby diapers:)
We consistently re-use our plastic grocery bags for my husband’s lunches as well as to pack around breakables when we sell something on eBay.
We also choose to check Goodwill or other thrift shops for clothes also. (I got 4 gorgeous church dresses for my girls this summer for around $5….perfect condition and very neat. We also bought several skirts for $3.)
Happy Birthday! I recycle gallon milk jugs by filling them with water and then freezing them. Them make cheap freezer packs and are also earth friendly!
Happy Birthday.
And Happy One Month Anniversary.
My recycling tip: compost, compost, compost. We have a large vegetable garden and turn all plant scraps into compost.
I have a collection of reuseable cloth grocery bags that I take to the store.
Hi there -
Thanks for including me.
We’re getting more and more into the whole recycling, “going green” thing these days.
But right now, I’m super excited because my husband is going to make me a compost pile (I’ve been asking for close to a year). He was able to get 4 pallets for free (free and recycled!). And we need to purchase some chicken wire and paint. Soon, I’ll have a compost bin in the back yard that I’ll be painting to give it my own creative flair! And hopefully next year our soil for the garden will be even better then this year!
Thanks!
I like to re use ziplocks and any packaging. I also take my junk mail and save it for scratch paper. I try to stay organized so these things don’t take over my life!
Thanks for doing the giveaway! I recycle my magazines by taking them to our local library, who sells them for .25-.50 and uses the funds to buy books and pay for children’s programs.
We are using reducing the amount of paper products we use – less paper towels, paper plates, etc. Thanks for the chance to win.
Happy Birthday!! We have become a huge recycling family. I try to only purchase products that come in recyclable containers and we recycle everything that we possibly can.
Hapy Birthday and what a great way to celebrate. I (thru a friend) have found your web page and I am already happy I did! I am recently unemployed as the small private school I taught at and my 4 children attended closed because of financial difficulties! Now, our whole lifestyle is changing as a result! I stay home and home school the children. We are trying to do lots to save and recycle. Of course, we are all learning to recycle and sort out cardboard / platic/ etc. items and they are taken to the Recycling Center once a week. We also buy less plastic water bottles, instead re-use and re-fill what we already have here. We also do not dry our hands on a paper towel or napkin anymore! We only use a dish towel to save on the paper. As wew home school now, we use the entire sheet of notebook paper too, rather than using a new sheet each time (especially when we are only using a few lines). MY children also do some activities on a white Board rather than copying paper or notebook paper. Anyway, we are learning and have far to go yet, but we would love the magazine for more ideas / coupons and ways to save! Thanks!
I keep all paper towel and toilet paper rolls in a big bag in our laundry room for my kids to use as they wish – building castles (or whatever they come up with), making telescopes and flutes, etc. (And I LOVE All You Magazine!!)
First off, Happy Birthday!!!
My recycling tip is to take my magazines to the doctors office for their waiting room!
Also all household waste is seperated and recycled.
Lastly I bring back my plastic bags to the grocery store and reuse them over and over. The store also pays me 5 cents per bag I reuse.
take care
Jeni
We do recycle every week. And we re-use anything and everything possible! I love All You, I’ve been reading that magazine for years!
laura_licious101(at)hotmail(dot)com
I also reuse our plastic bags by using them in trashcans, for trash in the car, packing in boxes, etc. I’ve just started bringing my own cloth bags to the grocery store. I’ll gradually buy enough that I won’t have to use plastic any more at all.
I either take my magazines to work for the lounge or share them with my friends. I also use my grocery bags for kitty litter bags.
We take our newspapers to our church where we have a paper recycling bin and proceeds go to our church. We take our soda cans to a special spot at the dump and proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity. It’s great because we’re recycling, but we’re also helping 2 great organizations too!
We just purchased a rainbarrel – it collects rainwater from your water spouts to use for watering!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday !! Great giveaway!!
I recycle anything I can cans.. take them in for $ for our cruise. I use the boxes that freebies come in as gift boxes.(Turn them inside out and decorate. I love saving money any way I can!!
Happy Birthday!
My best thing is to sort two bins with paper and cardboard in one and plastic in the other. It works great!

I use a bucket to catch some of the water while I take a shower and then re-use it for flushing the toilet. I learned this recycling tip from people suffering through the drought in Atlanta last summer.
I’d love to win the magazine with all of its coupons!
Happy Birthday! My household recycling includes:
Reusing plastic shopping bags at the store, as trash can liners, as packing material when shippping boxes, as “pooper scoopers” when I’m camping with my dogs, and as lunch bags. I’ve used dry-cleaning bags as little greenhouses when germinating seeds for my vegetable garden. I recycle plastic, glass, newpaper, and cardboard. I donate anything I don’t use and I yard-sale when I need something “new”. I use old plates as plant saucers. I take my old magazines to work. I wipe plates with the used napkins from dinner to save water. Last, but not least, my husband collects used vegetable oil and makes bio-diesel.
We mostly recycle paper and cardboard. I also try to get by with what I have as much as possible instead of just going out and buying something new.
I use canvas bags for groceries. We use the plastic bags that newspapers come in to pick up after our pooch. We now compost and the results are wonderful luscious organic matter.
Happy birthday! I reuse plastic and paper shopping bags as garbage can liners. I also wash and reuse my plastic baggies as long as they did not previously contain meat!
Happy birthday what a great giveaway. Love your blog. sgegutz@gmail.com
my children save cans to recycle…they gather them from our house and when we are at a family or friends house and there are empty cans they ask to have them!
when we take them to the center i split the money earned and they each get to keep it.
they each have to put half of theirs in their bank accounts and get to spend the rest!
We use cloth diapers. I used to think it was gross but it isn’t! And we save soooo much money!
Happy birthday! Thanks for the giveaway! We have really upped our recycling recently, and I am trying hard to remember to bring in my reusable canvas bags to the stores, but with two kids and stuff to remember, it’s hard!
Not only am I your favorite sister but I have tons of ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. I have reduced the number of times I get in the car for a quick trip. I try to make the most of my errands to save gas, and get exercise. I also have reduced my spending by reading your blog, and using coupons more. I reuse water bottles, and diapers (just kidding). I reuse plastic wipe tubs to store craft things, small toys, etc.
I reduce, reuse, and recycle (guess I should say regift in there too) totally senseless items someone once gave me. You wonder how I can hit the three “R’s” all in one? Easy. Just come across a silly kit of “how to make your own cat treats.” You will find out. Provides numerous amounts of cheep entertainment for years to come for you and your family.
I recycle by taking my bin to the curb for pick-up. Hope I am the lucky winner for the subscription. It would be a great gift to give someone who was going to give you the gift of a niece or nephew in six months. Oh and Happy 40th Birthday.
We recycle every item that our recycling center will accept. We take our reusable bags to the market and if we do end up with one of their plastic bags we either use it for a trash liner or bag them up and recycle them as well. We reuse the boxes and packing materials that we receive. We donate all good/usable toys, clothes, household goods, etc. to donation centers.
Thanks for the chance to win your great giveaway!
I recycle all my papers recieved in the mail, and newspapers also. I also recycle plastic and aluminum. Takes up less garbage bag room, and is healthier for the environment =] Happy Birthday!!! ♥
I use reusable bags for groceries (what I have that is) and I also recycle cans and paper! We can’t recycle plastic here that I know of unfortunately! The plastic grocery bags we do get we use as wastebasket liners! We use reusable lunch bags instead of paper bags. Also we use fabric napkins instead paper.
legacyofbrutalitysa{AT}gmail.com
We reduce our waste by never using paper products. The only things we couldn’t avoid using are diapers, wipes, and toilet paper. We only use real dishes and cloth napkins and towels for spills. Instead of buying the individual cups for applesauce and fruit salad we buy jars or bulk and fill the tiny rubbermaid “on-the-go” cups.
We also use the cleaning products by Melaluca, this reduces waste b/c the company is dedicated to reducing plastic use. You order a spray bottle and concentrated cleaners that you mix yourself.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter this contest for “All You”! Happy Birthday!
What a great contest! I posted about this on my blog.
I am very worried about the future of our world so I am very careful with recycling. I also bring my bags when I go food shopping. Also, my best tip is to go yard-saling!! The bargains are terrific and you use what is already here. Joanne ~~ glamourgirljoanne@yahoo.com
I reuse plastic grocery bags as trash can liners in my bathrooms and also take them back to the store if I end up with a ton.
I save my plastic ziploc bags and wash them and reuse them.
Happy Birthday!
I reuse plastic bags when cleaning the litter box and I reuse newspaper by putting it on the bottom of the bird cage (that is a lot of newspaper because it’s for a Blue & Gold macaw LOL) Thanks for the chance to enter.
We recently started recycling. We live within walking distance to the center, so rather than drive there, we also conserve by walking our recyclables down to the center! Thanks for an awesome give-away… and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
our small town doesn’t have a recycling plant so i have to be creative! i give magazines to friends, books and dvds get donated to the library, a garage sale is held when i have enuf kids’ clothes, and i reuse all plastic containers like butter bowls. some for leftovers, some for bath toys, some like yogurt containers for paint projects for the kids.
We use reusable grocery bags. I also blogged about this giveaway here: http://momsbyheart.blogspot.com/2008/09/free-5-sears-gift-card-coupons.html
Thanks!!!
Happy Birthday & what a wonderful give away!
I do a lot of what other posted said. I use my plastic grocery bags to clean dog & cat poop, for small garbage can liners, and I donate them to the local food shelters for others to take their food home in.
I also give the closthes my kids have outgrown to their cousins.
Michelle
Happy Birthday! The fourth is my Hubby’s birthday as well.
I buy used books rather than new then, ’sell’ (trade is more like it) them back to the used bookstore. I reuse plastic grocery bags whenever possible-they are especially useful for bagging up cat litter mess. I have also reduced our energy consumption by cutting back on how much we use the clothes dryer and replacing many of our bulbs with the energy savers.
Thanks for the contest!
I reuse the produce little bags from the grocery store and put them in my diaper bag for those accidental dirty baby clothes that happen oh so easily. I can close them up and stuff it in my bag with no worries of things soiling everything else that happened to be in there.
I as well like everyone else reuse plastic bags for liners and other nasty smelling stuff. I also reuse the plastic containers the lunch meat comes in. The newpaper is taken to my daughter’s school for recycling.
Thanks great giveaway.
My family recycles any paper we have in the house that’s not being used as much as possible. We also reuse plastic water bottles, and I’ve recently just started a compost, so that’s exciting!
I blogged about your giveaway here:
http://pheobie.blogspot.com/2008/09/more-blog-giveaways.html
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!!!!
We re-use our plastic sacks for just about everything. I also take them to the recycle bin. I have been researching shopping bags to replace these, though.
There is a paper recycling bin at my daughter’s school and all paper not in use goes there!
We are rookies and getting started.
Thank you for the opportunit!
wow kristi your blog is dooope there are so many people reading it. nice dude
Some of the ways we save…
Use grocery bags as trash can liners, recycle our bottles and cans, unplug when not in use, we use a Brita instead of purchasing water bottles, bring lunch to work, bring my own water bottle to work and mooch off the staff water fountain, and many many more….
Happy Late birthday and what a great giveaway! We compost for the garden so that helps not to have so much garbage. We also recycle cans to donate the proceeds to our cub scout troop!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
we recycle by sharing and using magazines and books- magazine can go to hospital/waiting rooms or schools to cut up
Happy Birthday to you from a fellow virgo (September 9th)!
How do I reduce, reuse and recycle?
I reduce by saving on gas and money with fewer trips to the store. I double and triple my coupons on items that are already on sale at the store. My 11 year old son even clips his own coupons and loves to find a deal on his own purchases!
I reuse old juice bottles to make tea or kool-aide. I reuse my plastic bags at the grocery store or as trash liners. I also reuse paper bags by cutting them open and letting my children color or paint large art projects on them.
My whole family recycles everything from cardboard & chipboard to plastics and paper. I make a bulk trip to the recycle center on my way to the grocery store.
A fantastic giveaway!!!
We have purchased a new garbage can just for recyclables inside the house.
One of my favorite ways to reduce is to not let those pesky plastic bags into my house! I have a good stock of reusable grocery bags and love them. Not only are they not plastic, but they are sturdier, hold more, stay upright in the trunk and are easier to carry!
i have also linked to your giveaway on my blog. Thanks!
I’ve posted about your giveaway on my blog, My Precious Pennies. Here is the permalink: http://mypreciouspennies.blogspot.com/2008/09/giveaways-galore.html
Thanks!
I reduce, reuse, and recycle with the kids at the school I work at. We have a club called “Watt Watchers,” and this club makes kids and teachers alike aware of how to reduce energy usage. The kids also provide blue bags for all the staff. We recycle all our can, paper and plastic goods. It’s so awesome to see the kids get excited about recycling!
I just started using re-usable shopping bags for groceries and other things. Happy Birthday to you!
I invested in a set of plastic reusable tupperware type containers to use instead of using ziplock bags. Not only saves me money, but reduces what I’m throwing into the landfills!
Happy belated birthday! I love this magazine and would really like to win. My biggest way in which I recycle is by using our local Freecycle group. That allows me to recycle all my old clothes, books, electronics, etc. and at the same time help out others in need of these items.
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary!
We use reusable bags when shopping. We’ve also traded out the old lightbulbs and recycle our cans, bottles and papers.
I’m really big on recycling. I actually dig through my co-workers trashcans at work when they’re not around and take all their paper and water bottles out and put them in the recycling can.
I found your blog while searching for other things, but I would like to say that this is a very interested blog and very informative. Speaking of gifts and shopping I found a cool site, http://www.itfigurez.com. I have been a customer of theirs for a few months but wanted to pass it along as they have a ton of cool products and gift ideas to get your holiday shopping started. Thank you for the great posts!
great ideas. I always follow your ideas and apply them.
Just one question though. Have you made writing this blog as your profession or do you do this in your spare time?
Just curious..
